Q: Were is the RRFF farm located?
A: Our farm is located in the hills on the West End of Richland county WI. We are approximately 50 miles southwest of LaCrosse and 90-Miles northwest of Madison off of Rt. 14
Q: How is the meat wrapped?
A:Our Meat is double wrapped. The first wrap is a protective clear cellophane material. The second, outside wrap is a durable freezer paper. Each package has the USDA stamp and is labeled as to the particular cut.

Q: How thick are the steaks cut?
A: Steaks are cut one inch thick. We can customize your order if you would like them different thickness.
Q: What does organic mean?
A:The basic tenants of organic beef production include production of beef without the use of antibiotics and/or growth hormones. In addition feed must be certified organic. Organic certified pasture and crops must be produced without commercial fertilizer, herbicides or pesticides. Our farm has been annually certified organic for 10 years. Approximately 99% of foodstuffs that go into the production of our beef are homegrown on our farm. The other such as salt and mineral is purchased but it too is certified organic. Our beef is produced without chemicals.

Q: What is the average weight of a 1/4th steer?
A: The average weight of a ¼ steer will be approximately 250lbs. With a range from 200lbs. to 300lbs. The difference will depend on the size of the animal.

Q: What does 1/4th butchered mean?
A:   Most of the premium cuts of meat such as, steaks come from the back half of the steer. The front half yields more hamburger and chuck roast. We have our butcher divide all the cuts into four equal parts. Thus each ¼ of beef is the same; each has the same amount of hamburger, steaks and roast. However we can personalize your order of request.
Q: How does the butchering process work?
A:   Butchering and processing is done locally by a small family owned business. They understand that we are promoting quality meat and that our business depends on repeat customers.

Q: How old are the steers when they are butchered?
A: Our steers are homegrown animals. We do not purchase any steers from outside sources. On average our steers are 1 ½ years old.

Q: What are the different breeds?
A: Holstein, Jersey, and Angus.
Q: What do the steers eat?
A: Our steers are grass fed the majority of the time. They are finished out with Organic Corn for about 70 days to marbleize & tenderize the meat.

Q: Are Special Cuts available ?
A: Special cuts are available for an additional charge, please call Pam at 608 538-3838.
